It looks as if Sony may be planning some big moves for PSP in 2008.
It has just announced (at At the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas) the upcoming release of the new 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. This
is a big increase in memory capability over the current 8GB model.
This may seem innocent enough - after all the current memory stick really does not allow us to do all the things we want. There is just not enough room to store games and movies and all our music!
But, when taken together with the also-demonstrated up and coming ability to
load certain Blu-ray movies onto your PSP, using the blue ray disc (of course) - and the PSP memory sticks …
well, you can see where this is going.
The current Memory sticks just will not do the job. So to sell you on this easier-than-the-current-ways (that any resourceful PSP owner with a high-speed internet connection have developed) to load movies onto their portable system, Sony have - Voila! - produced a huge new memory card. (Mind you it will cost $300 when it is released in March).
I can’t help but mention another gadget Sony has pushed into the lime light (again?) at the CES. You can see plenty of youtube vids if you so
wish - I just could not bring myself to display the foolish (Am I being unkind?) trailer here. It may be that this gadget is made for the Japanese market (where they love cute little gadgets) -or, possibly for the super rich kindy-brats in our country?
Maybe I am alone in finding this gadget super-silly? Feel free to vent your own opinions on this!

Got the T-Shirt? Got a pre-order on the Halo 3 Special Edition? Do you have your Master Chief helmet on while reading this? Then get your credit card out to buy some Halo 3… condoms! This condom was probably created by some anti-Halo 3 gamers, so we don’t advice using this condom in action!
Finish the fuck!

Today, 25 years ago, professor Scott E. Fahlman invented the smiley! Who would have thought the yellow smiling thing would change our lives for good? Since the smiley often pops up in games and on videogamesites we thought we’d wish the smiley a happy birthday!

A Chinese guy from about thirty years old died last Saturday after three days of non-stop gaming in a cybercafé. The hospital that took care of the gamenerd after 72 hours of gaming said that he was exhausted and died of a heart attack. China has a lot of problems with gamers that game too long without taking a break. Two years ago the Chinese government decided that a Chinese gamer shouldn’t be playing longer than three hours.

We just have the hardware sales from Japan in, but they don’t look that interesting. The usual, Nintendo DS Lite owns all and the Wii is the best selling next-generation console in Japan. The PlayStation Portable is selling better than its big brother, the PlayStation 3. Silently the PlayStation 2 is starting to fade away in the shadow of the mighty PS3. Oh and the GameCube sold 131 units.
Hardware sales from Japan, August 6th to 12th:
DSL 147,025
Wii 65,120
PSP 32,147
PS3 21,321
PS2 12,545
Xbox360 2,112
GBM 366
DS 180
GBASP 138
GC 131
GBA 16

There’s John Riccitiello again with nothing but nagging about the current situation in the magical world of video games. He said that game developers risk becoming less exciting and less cool. He wants more innovations and says that he saw about twelve WO II FPS games. He knows that it’s also a little bit EA’s fault, but he says that Electronic Arts is pushing developers to create original titles like Boogie, Spore, Army of Two, Skate and many other games.

Mark Rein from Epic Games has announced that Unreal Tournament 3 and Gears of War are in development for Apple’s Mac. Epic Games has probably managed to use the Unreal Engine 3 on Mac computers so it’s possbile that they’ll be porting more PC games to Mac. Bioshock, Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, Medal of Honor: Airborne and many more games that use the Unreal Engine 3 could be heading to Apple’s Mac OSX platforms as well.A few weeks ago iD Software and Electronic Arts announced that they’ll be developing more Mac compatible games as well since the Mac OSX platform has become more appealing thanks to better salesnumbers. The hardware of Apple’s Mac computers is better than before for playing games on it. Blizzard is supporting Apple’s Mac as well with game like World of Warcraft and StarCraft II will get a Mac version as well.
