Our theme for March seems to have been - how to get a free PSP!

So we decided to end the month on a high note - and tell you about the easiest PSP contest yet! The main prize is a Sony PSP and PSP copies of CID The Dummy for three runners up.

All you have to do is answer the question:

Which CID The Dummy character kidnaps Mia, the professor’s daughter?”

- and register to become a member of boomtown ……. and, oh yeah - and live in the UK. You can find out more about the contest at boomtown

As a consolation to US and Japanese PSP lovers, however, Sony recently announced that on April 5 - less than a week away - ten of its greatest hist will be on sale for a mere $19.95. The list includes: Mortal Kombat: Unchained, Patapon, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Tactical Strike,
Sonic Rivals 2, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas. Not free - but if you have wanted to own the game from new - then here is your chance!

For the rest of us, there is the report over the weekend that Sony Computer Entertainment is on the verge of a making some dramatic global announcement! This is suposed to happen tomorrow (Tuesday March 31st) ant there is wide speculation that it might be a big price drop or maybe a new browser (which would be great if its for the PSP) or some other online revolution. So watch for it.

PSP Modzune-spacer.jpgIn our previous post, we included an image of a modded PSP. Now, there are LOTS of ways to mod a PSP - this is just one of them (see image to the left). Did you notice the image and wonder “what the..??”

This has become one of the classic mods. Since our last post we have had a lot of queries about it - so we decided to post a video that shows how its done:

If you decide to give this mod a go, let us know how you went with it in the comments section below.

If you would like to know just how homebrews are made, then follow this forum thread and be awed by the unfolding development of Ultimate PSPTube (even to the name!). Creative drive, frequent helpful suggestions for improvements, plus passionate support and enthusiasm all go into the mix, as the following comment highlights this:

The developer, “JK108″ makes it clear that the “readme” is a must read. You can do that by following the link he provides to readeMe

Microsoft set up the Zune Mansion in Houston last week to host performers celebrating 2008 Latin Emmy Awards, and to showcase its latest “Zodiac Designs” developed by artists Catalina Estrada and Iosefatu Sua for Zune. The following image shows Latin singer, Fonseca, in front of one of Catalina Estrada’s Zune-Zodiac designs in the Houston Zune mansion:

Sony - now movie making maestros - have just released the latest Bond movie,

Quantum Of Solace

And Apple (the design masters) have even got Disney Cartoonists developing Games for iPhone (in this case, Rhinoball).

rhino’s rollerballNot to be out done, artists are being called on to design skins for handhelds - including for PSP. Gelskin, for example, has some 80 artists on their payrollthat have produced an amazing variety of designs.

Not being artists nor historians, none of the Bitfood team could stump up a reason for the marriage between these huge companies and artists. Admittedly, games do require artists for their presentation, so the association is not completely bizzare. But still…

Not a deep issue, perhaps, just a puzzle. And, after all, the results are delightful to view - especially when they also offer free wallpapers! Check out this free wallpaper for PSP by Yoko d’Holbachie (click image to download):

Follow this link for the instruction on how to download the wallpaper to your PSP.

Now, you have to sign up for a plan - but one thing I know about you Brits is that you are smart and shrewd. So here is how we suggest you tackle this.

1) Sign up for the top plan. That will mean you can trial three games at a time. That way you can trial a heap of games before the 30 days are up! That will also mean you test their system to the max. And if they handle this test, they may be worth hanging on to. After all they have over 300 PSP games to choose from. This is how the system works:

Now, IF their system works as well as this diagram makes out, then its a great system - BUT…

2) If you just want 30 days of free games then make sure you CANCEL your membership at the end of the 30 days. The free trial is a fantastic way to test run a heap of games you always wanted to check out. LoveFilm also have many of the latest releases. BUT, you will lose this benefit -a free trial - if you forget to cancel! Cos then you will start getting charged. So be warned.

Can you answer the following question?

In the screenshot below what circus act are Batman and Robin doing?

That’s all you need to do to be entered to win a PSP plus the game Lego Batman (OK, so not everyone is going to get steamed about the game) But how easy is that.

The only catch is that entry closes on Friday 31st October 2008. So better get moving! Here’s the LINK to enter.

And if you live in the UK and can answer the question:

How many apes can be found in Ape Escape M?

Then you can also win a PSP with a game (This time its Ape Escape). Here is the LINK to enter the contest. This contest closes on November 10th.
