With Comic Con 2010 currently in full swing in San Diego (started Thursday and finishing tomorrow) this seems like a great time to do a refresher on the comic titles available for PSP. There is an impressive line-up of titles available from the major publishers at the Playstation Store:

Comics For PSP

One of the most recent is publishers to join the Sony Digital Comic stable is DC Comics. The titles from DC includes Superman and Batman and other great titles, as the video shows:

Whilst there is a fantastic line up (the number of titles from each publisher is in brackets next the their name in the above list), there is just one disappointment with the introduction of digital comics for PSP. There was only  one freebie comic on offer. This contrasts with dozens of free comic titles on offer to iPhones!

Is it that Apple offers a bigger market or is a better negotiator? PSP owners definitely got the worst end of the deal! For those who are keen to try out reading comics on their PSP, you will need to upgrade your PSP system software to version 6.20 or higher. Then you will need to get the free Digital Comics Reader

Or, of course, you can navigate to Comixology using your browser on PSP and just watch the free web-based Comics on offer. There are some three dozen free comics to view.

Enjoy!

pbibuild/modules/vuze/overlay-dir/vuze.pngDo you like to watch movies on your PSP? Well, then you are likely to be interested in Vuze - a free media player for high-res digital videos. Vuze has a great new feature called Devices which converts all your downloads to play on PSP. According to Vuse, they have made the conversion system smart so that we don’t have to be.

The simple two-step process as outlined on Vuse and shown below.

Free PSP Movies

Its easy to get movies or videos onto your PSP First, download the Vuze software (its free). Then PSP will appear in the Sidebar under Devices the first time you connect your PSP to your computer (make sure Vuze is open). All you have to do then is to drag-and-drop movie or video files from your Vuze library to the PSP in the Sidebar. This will convert the movie/video files to to a format that the PSP can play. Once the conversion has been done, Vuze will automatically transferr the new file to the PSP. You will find the converted movie files listed under ‘Videos’.

Try it out - its free! You can download Vuze 4.3 here and/or get the Vuze Toolbar here.

The great thing about Twitter is that the celebs love it! And so do all sorts of people who run sites and want us to visit them! And to create some buzz and to motivate us to visit them they offer cool prizes if we tweet about them.  Here is a coupla  Twitter contests that are offering a PSP, PSP games or both as prizes in return for a few seconds of our time spent tweeting about them (copy-past-click and done!)

Filed under PSP Movie Downloads, Free PSP Stuff

Sohttp://www.topknotchent.com/Allyourdownloads/pspmovies1.jpgme time ago we did a post on how to get  movies for free on PSP! All you needed was a movie file on your PC and TransferMyVideo could convert it to a PSP compatible format.

Well, we have just discovered a way for you to get all your DVDs so you can watch them on PSP as well (friends got some DVDs you wanna watch?)

free iphone moviesOne of the team here at Bitfood, spotted a promo on another site - iPhonegizmo - that offers TransferMyVideo at 15% off.

Even better, they followed the links in the article and discovered that there is free software that makes it possible to use TransferMyVideo to copy any DVD (including those that are “right protected”). Its called DVD43, takes a few moments to download and then just sits on our desktop quietly working away unlocking DVDs so they can be copied!

Now the great thing about TransferMyVideo, is that it can convert any DVD to watch on a stack of mobile platforms - including iPhones, iPods, and Zunes as well as PSP. So that means if you need a parents’ agreement to get the software, you have a pretty good chance of getting them interested, as they can benefit from the software as well!!

Check out the article on iPhonegizmo, so you know whats involved, then you can put a killer argument to whoever controls the credit cards in your place (including you, if you are the one in charge!!) We have trialed it on both iPods and iPhones and it works a treat!

Filed under psp music, Free PSP Stuff

If you check around the site you will find some guides to getting some free music for your PSP. These are all great ways to get free music - but are usually for music from lesser known or beginning musicians. If you are wanting to get hold of free music from your favorite artists - then you might want to check out cool this site we found. Its currently offering 25 free MP3s - and they are also DMR-free (which means that they can be played on our PSP) and you can choose from any top artist.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/psp-music-052009.jpg

The 25 songs are completely free and you get them by signing up for a free trialwith the site. Now you have to give credit card details - so if you don’t have one you will need to get your parents or a friend to sign up for you. Its easy to cancel your free subscription (we’ve tested the system out and it is easy)

So - go check them out. And Enjoy! (PS if you need to find out how to download music to your PSP, check out this link)

Transfer My VideoWhile  I use my PSP mainly for games, I’ve become a great fan of watching movies and TV shows on it.

I’ve just now put a recent episode of NCIS on it to watch when I go on a trip tonight, so I’m pretty happy about that.

And as the whole transfer to my PSP was so easy and took only 10 minutes, I thought I’d share how I did it. First I used the free version of TransferMy Video(that I downloaded recently). Then I browsed through my viseo files and found the NCIS file that my friend sent me, and then clicked “start my conversion”.

That’s it, basically. It took less than 10 minutes to convert to PSP file (its very fast). I then just synced it to my PSP (a few secs) and done! Best invention, ever!!.

I just copied the banner ad above, so there is no link from it to the free download - but you can just click the TransferMyVideo link above or click HERE to get to the free download.

So why copy the banner? Because the free version does have a watermark in the middle of the image - which can get annoying. Its pretty cheap software anyway, but currently they have a 35% off sale - so worth a mention.

Hmmm yeahh, drooool free TV on PSP - watch anywhere! …WTF! …Its not for the US #&@#!

Free PSP TVzune-spacer.jpgThats about the size of it folks! Have recently discovered that the Go!PSPGo! websites have all folded up their tents and disappeared into the night (and their function absorbed into the uk.playstation.com website). So when I came accross a reference to G0!View and was sent to a new website - set up just for it - well, palpitations were in evidence. But ..alas poor Yorick… Its only available in the Fair Isles.

We also recently nagged the SCEA playstation crew in California to find out if they were ever going to bring any component of the Go! setup to the US. And got the royal runaround. But the consensus seems to be a resounding “no”!

So watch this video and weep, US readers. (UK readers - you get free TV on PSP for a month to try it out) BTW, we have a theory that the PSP is more popular among older (and therefore better funded) enthusiasts in the UK and Europe. Now about 30% of our readers are from UK and Europe - so we thought we would do a quick quiz to check our theory (you’ll find it at the end of this post)

Bitfood Age Quiz: - How Old Are You?

Under 18 and live in North America

Under 18 and live in UK/Europe

18 -26 and live in North America

18-26 and live in UK/Europe

Over 26 and live in North America

Over 26 and live in UK/Europe
