Transfer My VideoWhile  I use my PSP mainly for games, I’ve become a great fan of watching movies and TV shows on it.

I’ve just now put a recent episode of NCIS on it to watch when I go on a trip tonight, so I’m pretty happy about that.

And as the whole transfer to my PSP was so easy and took only 10 minutes, I thought I’d share how I did it. First I used the free version of TransferMy Video(that I downloaded recently). Then I browsed through my viseo files and found the NCIS file that my friend sent me, and then clicked “start my conversion”.

That’s it, basically. It took less than 10 minutes to convert to PSP file (its very fast). I then just synced it to my PSP (a few secs) and done! Best invention, ever!!.

I just copied the banner ad above, so there is no link from it to the free download - but you can just click the TransferMyVideo link above or click HERE to get to the free download.

So why copy the banner? Because the free version does have a watermark in the middle of the image - which can get annoying. Its pretty cheap software anyway, but currently they have a 35% off sale - so worth a mention.

According to a report this week from Cnet News:

Sony has spoken with some of the major recording companies about providing music for the PlayStation Portable.

fpm

Cnet goes on to suggest that Sony might consider not making the music available in MP3 format (the most common format) but might try to limit PSP users so that they basically have to buy off  Sony.

It would be hard not to know that Sony are suffering in the recessions as so many people have been chucked out of their jobs there. But the one thing really booming on the internet is music sales. And every big internet business seems to want a piece of that action!

The thing is that Sony already has a piece of this action - as it is part owner of Dada.com - which provides MP3 music on a monthly subscription basis. So it would make sense to just make it possible for PSP owners to get their music from Dada. Its got to be their easiest and cheapest option. We will keep you updated and let you know if they offer any good free trials (they used to have a ‘25 free songs’ trial but that’s been reduced to just three at the mo).

In the meantime, check out this video to get music to play in the background while you are playing a game:

And here is an easy-to-follow guide on how to download music to the PSP - for those who have not worked out howto do it!

And final link - go here to find out how to get yourselves a stack of free music (about 300,000 songs by our count!)

As we understand it - its legal to make a copy of your own game. And it makes sense to get copies made as we can keep our original disc in mint condition. And hey, when we lend to a friend, we don’t have to risk our favorite PSP game getting damaged! PSP Game Xmen Origins Wolverine

Copy PSP Games

But, with times being so tough - and PSP sales sliding downwards so hard - this whole copying gig may just be another way that Sony a losing sales.

At least, that’s what we figure might explain the latest experiment Sony are trialing with Patapon 2. Because this game is not being made available with a disc! It can only be got by downloading from the Playstation store (you can buy it from  a store - but you just get a download coupon to take home and then use to download from the online store)

So no disc that can be  copied! And no hard copy to sell, either, when we are done!

So while this might be good for Sony and game developers - it does not look too good for us! After all, the game is not any cheaper (its the same price as Patapon) - but we can’t get any $$ back by reselling.

Is it worth it - well here is a  trailer of the Patapon 2 game for you to check out:

Not sure how smart this is as it also means we have less $$ to buy new games. Hmmm - well, we’ll see how this experiment goes.
