Our theme for March seems to have been - how to get a free PSP!
So we decided to end the month on a high note - and tell you about the easiest PSP contest yet! The main prize is a Sony PSP and PSP copies of CID The Dummy for three runners up.
All you have to do is answer the question:
“Which CID The Dummy character kidnaps Mia, the professor’s daughter?”
- and register to become a member of boomtown ……. and, oh yeah - and live in the UK. You can find out more about the contest at boomtown
As a consolation to US and Japanese PSP lovers, however, Sony recently announced that on April 5 - less than a week away - ten of its greatest hist will be on sale for a mere $19.95. The list includes: Mortal Kombat: Unchained, Patapon, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Tactical Strike,
Sonic Rivals 2, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas. Not free - but if you have wanted to own the game from new - then here is your chance!
For the rest of us, there is the report over the weekend that Sony Computer Entertainment is on the verge of a making some dramatic global announcement! This is suposed to happen tomorrow (Tuesday March 31st) ant there is wide speculation that it might be a big price drop or maybe a new browser (which would be great if its for the PSP) or some other online revolution. So watch for it.

Independent Games festival are asking for our help to decide the best “amateur” game that was entered into their annual contest. These are the Main Competition finalist and they had to submit a playable public demo of their game.
Just download these free games and then vote for the ones you like best! Games are courtesy of the 2009 Independent Games Festival: Audience Awards and the developers who entered their games in the contest. And “yes” these are only for PC at present - but who knows which ones may be taken up for development on the PSP? - now is the time to have our say!
There were a massive 226 entires and the judges have come up with a short list of 9 games and are seeking our input to help them pick the best games from their short list.
We have to download each game we’re interested in. This is a bit of a tedious process at first because you have to register with fileplanet to get the downloads - and they do try and get you to sign up for a membership deal - but just ignore all that!
When you’ve decided which one is your favorite, just click the “vote for this title” icon and follow the directions!

We have said it before - it just makes sense to have demos of games available. Even if they are only playable on PC - they still give us a feel for whether the game is something we wanna play. Unfortunately, game developers are more likely to provide trailers (still cool but not really the same as trying a demo).
This recently released PSP game has a demo version that can be downloaded for free. Just check out the great graphics:
Major League Baseball 2K9 (by 2K Sports) was released Mar 3 2009. You can get this demo here
This is a pretty cool demo - so give it a try. There is no need to sign up for anything to get it.

Don’t we just love playing the games that go with movies we have watched and loved! And now, it seems that when movie comes out - a game comes with it. And some are great. Will the upcomeing movie -UP - be a movie that will drive us to the game?
Well, we can get a glipse of both as the movie trailer is out (see it below) and the game demo is also out (download it from the link at the bottom of this post)
The Up video game, and Disney/Pixar film, is planned for release to PSP, worldwide, in spring 2009. In the game, players have to navigate through treacherous jungle terrains, battle dangerous creatures and trek the slippery slopes of the Amazonian Tepuis. The game can be single player (with three possible IDs - ) or multi player with the game including an epic level that will allow up to four players to compete in aerial combat.
The demo for Up is now available - which is great considering that the site is not really functioning yet - just a one page setup. Let us know what you think of the game in the comments section belwo.

Y’know, when we browse around the web we get the sense that some PSP gamers are unhappy with the number of games being released! But, according to wikipedia there were 97 games released in 2008, and hundreds since 2004!
So we wondered - Have PSP gamers gone through all these games already?
If so, we wondered just how long does it take to finish a PSP game to the point of not ever want to play it again?
Now we realize that that depends on how good the game is. But still - except for the classics - there has to be a max period that a game will be played. We wanted to find out how long it takes to go from first play to “I’m want to sell/swap this @$# game”! Let us know in the Quiz below:

Some say that the PSP is an old has been and that Apple have scooped the games market with its iPod Touch!! Check out this video:
Interestingly this video was posted to YouTube around the same time as the much publicized interview with Nicholas Lovell titled: “iPod Touch to kill off PSP”!! In this article Lovell argues that the iPod Touch is more portable with games easier to get. ANd he concluded:
(the iPod Touch), in my opinion, will be the final nail in the PSP’s coffin
But we think he is ignoring one BIG difference between the two platforms. The games on iPod Touch are just fancy arcade games - no depth, no story and only challenging to the simple minded!
But what do you think? Have your say in the comments section - but do let us know what country you are from when you post your view! The PSP is definitely more popular in Europe and Japan than it seems to be in the US - so opinions on this might well depend on where you live.
