Been wanting to watch YouTube and other videos on your PSP? Well this just released PSP homebrew allows us to do just that and its FREE!
This homebrew is a big improvement over the previous version - its faster, easier to use and includes more video sites (the video sites you
can watch include YouTube and Google Videos - which is great because that means you will be able to watch the upcoming videos of PSP Girl from your PSP!)
If you would like to know just how homebrews are made, then follow this forum thread and be awed by the unfolding development of Ultimate PSPTube (even to the name!). Creative drive, frequent helpful suggestions for improvements, plus passionate support and enthusiasm all go into the mix, as the following comment highlights this:
This is the best homebrew I’ve ever tried (the vids load very fast and you don’t wait while you watch it. lol (terrawar)
The developer, “JK108″ makes it clear that the “readme” is a must read. You can do that by following the link he provides to readeMe
And, you can download the PSP homebrew - Ultimate PSPTube 1.2 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4…280f6d5c658cbf or download one of the attachments:

Just a quick post to pass on a tip supplied to us by a UK fan for how to get free PSP games for 3 months (if you live in the UK ). We did a post recently on how to get free PSP games for 30 days - but this is a much better deal.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar (release date)
According to our informant, if you plug in this promotion code, you will be able to get free use of all PSP games for 90 days ( 3 months!) from LoveFilm. You have to put this code in on the sign up page. And you have to select the plan that includes games. You can read the discussion about it here
The 90 day free trial code is VPSUM811

Microsoft set up the Zune Mansion in Houston last week to host performers celebrating 2008 Latin Emmy Awards, and to showcase its latest “Zodiac Designs” developed by artists Catalina Estrada and Iosefatu Sua for Zune. The following image shows Latin singer, Fonseca, in front of one of Catalina Estrada’s Zune-Zodiac designs in the Houston Zune mansion:

Sony - now movie making maestros - have just released the latest Bond movie,

And Apple (the design masters) have even got Disney Cartoonists developing Games for iPhone (in this case, Rhinoball).
Not to be out done, artists are being called on to design skins for handhelds - including for PSP. Gelskin, for example, has some 80 artists on their payrollthat have produced an amazing variety of designs.
Not being artists nor historians, none of the Bitfood team could stump up a reason for the marriage between these huge companies and artists. Admittedly, games do require artists for their presentation, so the association is not completely bizzare. But still…
Not a deep issue, perhaps, just a puzzle. And, after all, the results are delightful to view - especially when they also offer free wallpapers! Check out this free wallpaper for PSP by Yoko d’Holbachie (click image to download):

Follow this link for the instruction on how to download the wallpaper to your PSP.

If you live in Europe, or Japan, there can be little doubt that the PSP is hot property. To quote one PSP’er we came across in a PSP forum:
I Use my PSP as a Camera, MP3player, Portable game player. WIFI browser,,,Movie and Music Vid Player..(sony really needs to market the PSP alot better)..I also own my own Construction Company and The PSP has come into use plenty of times..
But, if you live in the US, then some of this is just not available.

There have been rumors all through 2008 that Sony was about to release the PSP camera and the PSP GPS system. After all: the PSP Camera was released in Japan and Singapore (the Chotto Shot ) in 2006, and in PAL territories (Europe -where it is named the Go!Cam), it was released in May, 2007. (Read more about GoPSPGo)
At CES in early 2008, Sony America stated that the PSP Camera and PSP GPS will be released in North America sometime 2008. So far this has not happened, and, despite some extensive internet research, no-one in our team could track down any inkling of this happening before the end of 2008! Plenty of rumors, but no hard facts.
In a fit of frustration, Bitfood called Sony Computer Entertainment America, today, to try and nail down when (or if!) either the camera or GPS (”go!explore” style system) were going to be present options for North Americans for Christmas 2008.
Sadly, the answer was a decisive “no”! Not happening - no plans in the foreseeable future.
Which is a pity, because the whole setup looks awesome.

Want to know what games to put on your Christmas list? - here is your chance to try them all out. LoveFilm in the UK have introduced a 30 free trial period - so we suggest that all you UK PSP lovers take advantage.

Now, you have to sign up for a plan - but one thing I know about you Brits is that you are smart and shrewd. So here is how we suggest you tackle this.
1) Sign up for the top plan. That will mean you can trial three games at a time. That way you can trial a heap of games before the 30 days are up! That will also mean you test their system to the max. And if they handle this test, they may be worth hanging on to. After all they have over 300 PSP games to choose from. This is how the system works:

Now, IF their system works as well as this diagram makes out, then its a great system - BUT…
2) If you just want 30 days of free games then make sure you CANCEL your membership at the end of the 30 days. The free trial is a fantastic way to test run a heap of games you always wanted to check out. LoveFilm also have many of the latest releases. BUT, you will lose this benefit -a free trial - if you forget to cancel! Cos then you will start getting charged. So be warned.

LoveFilm have recently released PSP games for you to trial as well.

While cruising around the PSP forums we came accross the following wish list of PSP games for Christmas:
Midnight Club: LA Remix
Star Ocean: First Departure
King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga
DT Carnage
Air Conflicts: Aces of World War II
Shaun White Snowboarding
Need for Speed Undercover
Mytran Wars
Dungeon Maker II: The Hidden War
Well, we knew that some of these games are now not going to be released before Christmas. So we decided to put together a list of PSP games due for release between now and Christmas. That proved to be quite a challenge! The info is scattered across a dozen or more sites (including - but not limited to: Sony, game developers and game publishers)
Worse still the info is often out of date - so serious research was needed! So, if you are aiming to give a “just released” PSP games for Christmas- or want to write up a wish list from the latest releases, then these two tables give you your choices!

There has been quite a bit of media commentary about the “design flaw” in the latest PSP 3000 - which has resulted in lines appearing across the screen.
Initially, Sony Tokyo officials dismissed criticism/complaints, explaining that it was not a flaw but a ‘design feature’ that had resulted from Sony’s attempt to resolve design flaws in earlier models (ghosting). But the result has been, apparently, that some games and videos are popping up interlaced, where the image breaks into line segments. The following images show this quite well: (The more technical minded can get more details in the info section of this YouTube video):

PSP 3000 interlacing problem

PSP 2000 Ghosting problem
But their blaze attitude has not been well received and criticism has intensifed rather than died down, and it now looks like the PSP 3000 may even be recalled. According to Rewired, Sony:
appears to have removed all references to the PSP-3000 from their European online store …….There are rumours of retailers being asked to return unsold units, but no formal announcement has been made by any of Sony’s global hubs.
The point is - it may be smart to hold off on any upgrades till the situation becomes clearer. With Christmas just around the corner you can bet that Sony is going to sort this out ASAP.
