John Riccitiello, Chief Executive at Electronic Arts, thinks that we gamers are bored.
Why does he think that?
Well he says that there isn’t enough innovation in the industry!
Does he blame Electronic Arts for making the same sportsgames every year again with just a few new features added to it?
No, not really, he just mentions that the it’s the whole industry’s fault. John is affraid that they’re losing casual gamers because games are too expensive, too hard to play and according to him games are too long.
Mr. Riccitiello praises some new games, including Activision Inc.’s Guitar Hero series and Vivendi SA’s online World of Warcraft, as well as a music game by Viacom Inc.’s MTV called Rock Band, which EA will distribute. But he says there aren’t enough titles that break new ground. He said he believes making sequels is still a sound strategy, as long as they are more innovative than in the recent past.
EA isn’t earning as much as they did when the PS2, Xbox and GameCube came out. The development costs have gone up and that’s why it’s harder for them to earn money on it. They’ll probably develop more for the Wii now since it’s cheaper to develop for the system and because of the new market Nintendo is trying to reach with her machine.

[…] There’s John Riccitiello again with nothing but nagging about the current situation in the magical world of videogames. He said that gamedevelopers risk to become less exciting and less cool. He wants more innovations and says that he saw about twelve WO II FPS games. He knows that it’s also a little bit EA’s fault, but he says that Electronic Arts is pushing developers to create original titles like Boogie, Spore, Army of Two, Skate and many other games.
